With Theo Walcott flattering to deceive to year in year out, Arsenal certainly could do with the signing of right sided winger. And reports today claim Arsenal are set to submit a bid to sign Barcelona attacker Arda Turan, who is reportedly set to depart the Nou Camp for about £29m this summer, according to a report in Spanish outlet Sport.
The Barcelona attacker made his name at Turkish club Galatasaray and later moved to Spanish club Atletico Madrid in 2011 where he emerged as one of the best attackers in Europe before joining La liga champions Barca last summer.
Turan, however, endured a hard start to life at the Nou Camp last season, as he only made just 13 starts in all competitions. This was because he wasn’t able to play until January due to Barcelona transfer ban but Turan wasn’t regarded as a first team regular even when available.
This has since led to speculation that the 29-year-old attacking midfielder could now leave the catalan club this summer in search of first team football, and according to Spanish outlet Sport, Arsenal are set to table a bid for the attacker.
It is widely thought that that Barcelona will want at least the £29m for the attacker, the same fee they paid Atletico last summer to for Turan, which seems too huge for an attacker that is set to turn 30 in January, but his quality is undoubted.
The Turkish international was extremely brilliant during his days at Athletico Madrid and the fact he can play on either wing or even through the middle makes him an a good choice for Arsene Wenger.
