Arsenal according to reports are set to sign another player, from the La Liga. The Wenger managed side are said to be ready to take advantage of Barca’s financial problems to sign one of their players.
Barcelona’s dreadful financial conditions mean the Catalan club needs to sell couple of first team players who are surplus to requirement at the club to balance their financial books. One of the players regarded as ‘surplus to requirement’ is former Athletico Madrid and Turkish midfielder Arda Turan.
The Arsenal target joined the Spanish club last summer but could not make his debut until January this year due to the transfer ban imposed on the club.
His future has been uncertain in recent weeks and several top clubs across Europe have shown interest in him, including London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Arsenal is one of the few top clubs interested in signing the attacking midfielder. Barcelona would be asking for a fee around €30m for Turan. An amount some reports claim Arsenal are ready to pay and have moved on to agree personal terms with the player.
If the Gunners truly want to sign him, they must act as quick as possible so that they don’t lose him to other suitors. If the Gunners approach him like they have always done to other targets, they will only have themselves to blame if they lose out on him.
The 29 year old is expected to join the pre-season training shortly and will hold talks with Barcelona coach Luis Enrique over his future.
As the Gunners continue to shop for reinforcement, it is important Wenger bolster the right midfield position, which is Turan’s favorite position. The Uncertainty surrounding Walcott’s future at the club makes Turan a perfect buy.
