When a player bagged 17 goals and created 11 assists in a league as tough as the Premier League and all this while playing on the right wing, the player will surely attract attention from top European clubs across the globe. This is the case of Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
Earlier last week, there were speculations that the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger had met with the agent of the Algerian international and that personal terms had been agreed between Mahrez and the club. There have been many rumours from various English, Italian, Spanish, Algerian media outlets about some days ago claiming Arsenal are the clear favourites for the signature of the France-born playmaker.
On Thursday, Algerian media outlet Lebuteur reported the news from Euro Sport FR broke in regards of the north London club agreeing personal terms with the player. The report from them also went further to say we are hoping that Leicester City will agree to our £37 million bid for Mahrez.
Lebuteur also states that Mahrez has already made up his mind that he will be signing for Arsenal.
The Premier League champion’s fans, commented on the news report from various media, by claiming the Algerian media are unreliable. However, strong findings and with that of Sportwitness, well known for their keen investigative findings, maintain that the reports from the Algerian media outlet are well connected.
They might have got one or two things wrong in the past, but they are certainly have strong insider connections. Clearly, that is something Leicester City fans won’t like to hear.
However, there are more news for Leicester City fans from Lebuteur. The report from the Algerian media outlet yesterday claimed they have made contact with an inside source very close to Mahrez and they are confident that a deal will be done soon. They also add up that a deal is not yet finalized, the Gunners and the Foxes have commenced official discussions for the transfer of the player.
If these reports are in anyway true and Leicester’s have decided to come to negotiation with Arsenal for Mahrez, it probably means they have given up on keeping the player. Clearly, it can be seen that the Algerian international wants to leave, only Leicester City fans have failed to accept this fact.
Mahrez has so far snubbed offer new contract extension with Leicester’s owners and especially manager Ranieri, with his many years of experience in the game, must know it is difficult to keep an unhappy player in a team.
