West Ham have had a loan bid for Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs rejected as they are on the hunt for an experienced left-back to replace the club injured Aaron Cresswell.
According to reports, the Premier League giant have also submitted a bid of £20million Ghanaian and Swansea forward Andre Ayew as they look forward to strengthen their squad before the new Premier League season.
Cresswell however, will be out of the squad for up to four months after he injured his knee in the club pre-season match in Austria and manager Slaven Bilic is anxious to bring in a replacement.
Gibss, 26, who has lost his place in the Gunners first team to Nacho Monreal during the last campaign, has been seen as possible replacement for Cresswell but the north London club has turned down the Hammers first bid.
The East London will have to look elsewhere, with Norwich City’s 28-year-old Sweden international Martin Olsson according to Evening Standard is on their radar.
Olsson lost a regular place in the club team last season to Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady, another player whom the Hammers are also interested on, and the relegated club are open to a deal for a player in the final year of his contract.
