Deportivo La Coruna’s forward Lucas Perez will sign a four-year deal with Arsenal today after the Gunners have triggered his £17.1m release clause.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been actively busy this summer trying to buy a striker to strengthen his attacking options in order to be a title challenger before the transfer deadline.
The Frenchman according to The Sun agreed to sign the Turkish international yesterday.
In addition, the report claimed Wenger would be paying Perez’s release fee in two instalments – which was rejected by the Spanish giants.
Having decided and keen on bringing in much needed reinforcement to help strengthen his side, he agreed to pay the amount in full.
An Emirates’ insider as quoted via The Sun revealed, “Arsenal have been scouting Perez for way over a year and have watched him many times.”
“He was always on the list of players Arsene was looking at bringing in this summer.”
It is thought Perez flew into London last night, and will sign his deal today along with taking official club photos.
He will also have a medical, and start to look for a house for him and his family in the capital.
Perez scored an impressive 18 goals in 37 appearances for Deportivo last season after joining them in 2015 before PAOK.
