Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal’s failure to sign Lyon’s and France international Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly forced Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to turn his attention elsewhere this summer, according to La Liga expert Guillem Balague.

An earlier report from Sky Sports News this weekend claimed that Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez is set to undergo a medical with the north London club.

The Gunners have failed in their bid for the Lyon striker earlier this summer after the an official report from the Ligue 1 giants reveals they’ve turned down an approach from the Emirates outfits for the Frenchman.

The report from Sky Sports News is now suggesting that a deal for Perez is getting close to finalize, Sky Sports’s La Liga expert Balague lifted the lid on the timeline of Arsenal’s interest in the Deportivo’s forward.

Sky Sports quotes him saying, “It’s clear Arsenal wanted Lacazette as their main striker, but when Lyon asked for €55m they looked somewhere else,”

“They have been following Perez for a year.”

Lacazette has bagged 97 times in his 223 appearances in all competition for the Ligue 1 side.

His best and most outstanding form was in the 2014/15 season when he netted 27 times in 31 Ligue 1 games.

Perez, meanwhile, netted 17 times in 36 La Liga games for Deportivo last season. The Spanish forward, 27, moved to Deportivo from Greek side PAOK in 2014.
