Arsenal first summer signing Granit Xhaka has proudly taken to Instagram to welcome Mother Teresa’s canonization Sunday.
Mother Teresa, who was known for her work among the poor in India, became Saint Teresa as Pope Francis held a ceremony in the Vatican City.
She was born into an Albanian-Kosovan family before she moved to India, where she had spent most of her life and thereafter received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in 1979.
The Arsenal midfielder’s parent were also Albanian-Kosovan, although Xhaka was born in Basel and went on to represent his hometown club.
Xhaka’s older brother – Taulant – is currently a member of the Albania national team and the pair came face-to-face in the European championship.
In addition, the Arsenal summer signing took to Instagram to pay his own tribute to one of Albania’s most-famous daughters following St Teresa’s canonisation.
Xhaka posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
Xhaka was impressive in our 3-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend. He has made appearance in all our three Premier League so far this season.
