Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
According to Metro, Arsenal’s and Chilean international Alexis Sanchez is reportedly demanding an extra £35,000 on his contract at the Emirates Stadium. This will see the Chilean international weekly wages amounts to £175,000 per week.
The Chile international has been one of the team’s top performers since he joined from Barcelona back in 2014, but his future is now in some doubt after lengthy negotiations over a new deal.
The Chilean forward has been our most prolific forward since he made his debut in 2014-15 campaign. His first competitive appearance for us was against Manchester City in the Community Shield, on 10 August. He played in the first half and helped us to a 3-0 against the Citizens.
Earlier this summer, we’ve tried to tie him and Mesut Ozil down to new contracts, but not much progress was made, and reports emanating from top English medias are claiming the Chilean wages with the Gunners could be an issue.
However, the 27-year-old is currently earning £140,000 per week – already among the club’s highest earners – but report according to the Daily Mirror claims he’s seeking to raise his wages to £175,000 per week.
Arsenal are not known for being one of Europe’s biggest spenders in terms of transfer fees or wages, but fans will be desperate to see a player of Sanchez’s quality kept on.
Sanchez was on hand to net a brilliant equalizer for us in the 1-1 draw against French giants Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday night’s Champions League clash.
