Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal are leading the chase for wantaway West Ham playmaker and reported Manchester United target Dimitri Payet, with Sky Sports claiming the Ligue 1 club’s president Jacques-Henri Eyraud ready to meet officials of the Hammers on Monday to discuss a deal.
The 29-year-old Frenchman was not included in the Hammers squad that beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Saturday after revealing he no longer wants to play for Slaven Bilic’s side.
Payet’s comments, as confirmed by Bilic, has put the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille on high alert, with all four clubs understood to be keen on his services.
However, it appears the Gunners has stolen a march on their competition, with the club’s president Eyraud set to thrash out a deal for the wantaway France international on Monday.
It’s understood Arsenal were willing to buy the midfielder but loan him back to West Ham for the remainder of the season, but the prospect of this going through is highly unlikely with fans of the club wiping their feet on a replica Payet shirt and chanting for him to leave as soon as possible.
Arsene Wenger has recently hinted that he may not enter the race for the player’s signature this month, but should he change his mind then it is believed West Ham will refuse any offer below £30 million for their prized asset.
