Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to Portugal to keep tabs on Porto duo Andre Silva and Danilo on the weekend with the pair holding release clauses worth €100 Million. The claims come from Portuguese publication Record (via Sport Witness).
The January transfer window hasn’t seen much action from Arsenal. The Gunners have signed a number of first-time players in the January windows including Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Paulista and Nacho Monreal but no signings have come close to the ones being reported in Europe.
Portuguese publication Record claims that Arsenal had scouts attending Porto’s match against Moreirense at the weekend. The article reports that the Gunners were keeping an eye on duo Andre Silva and Danilo, the latter of which scored in the 3-0 demolition for the home side.
The Gunners have reportedly been watching the players for some time but could be put off by the price. Danilo has a release clause of €40Million, while Andre Silva’s is reportedly €60Million.
Few January transfers come close to figures like that so it would be a surprise to see anything happen in the next two weeks. The Gunners haven’t exactly been very active in the Portuguese transfer market in recent years so any potential move for either player would be quite a change in transfer strategy.
