ARTURO VIDAL has called off negotiations with Arsenal and Chelsea over a summer move to England, according to reports.
Spanish outlet Don Balon say the Bayern Munich midfielder was a dead cert to join the Gunners at the end of the season. However, he has put a halt to talks amid speculation over Luis Enrique’s position at Barcelona.
The Catalan club’s boss could leave his post at the Nou Camp at the end of the season and that has lead to talk of Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli coming in.
Sampaoli is a big fan of Vidal and the Chilean is starting to dream about a move to the La Liga giants.
Don Balon say Arsenal thought Vidal was a certainty this summer in a deal worth somewhere between £42.6m and £51.2m.
Vidal might seem overpriced at 29, but his all-round ability makes him a top-quality player.
But he is a player Arsene Wenger rates very highly and the pair spoke glowingly of each other over the summer.
Vidal also admitted Wenger tried to sign him in the summer and he may get his man next time around.
