Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
According to The Sunday Times, manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly trying to persuade the Gunners board to secure at least one signing before the deadline ends tomorrow.
The report says that the North London club has inquired about signing Lindelof and Bakayoko this month, however, the approaches were rejected by Benfica and Monaco, who are leading their respective leagues at the moment.
Moreover, Ivan Gazidis thinks that the above mentioned players will come for cheap next summer. Wenger has other ideas, he believes that the squad is lacking depth after injuries to the likes of Coquelin and Cazorlar. Adding to that, Xhaka could be on the sidlines as well.
In such a scenario, the French boss needs more reinforcements, especially when he has to achieve the target of getting back into the Champions League. Currently, Gunners are 6th in the table.
The report also states that now, Wenger’s priority would be signing a midfielder like Bakayoko. However, so far, Arsenal have failed to agree a fee for the £40million rated French international. Moreover, Monaco would not want to sell their prized asset that late in the window.
