Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal have an overcrowded attacking midfield and they need to sell some players to reinforce other positions.
At the moment, Arsene Wenger has got stars like Alexis, Ozil, Walcott, Iwobi, Chamberlain and even Ramsey, Cazorla and Lucas who can play in the attacking midfield.
The French boss has consistently started the likes of Sanchez and Mesut but others have warmed the bench more often than not. One such bench warmer is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
According to the recent reports going on in the media, Manchester United are plotting a move worth 30 million pounds ($37million) for the former Southampton attacker (Mirror).
The 23-year-old England international is highly talented but Arsene rarely utilizes him in the starting XI. This season, he has scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists in 33 appearances. However, he has only been able to start 17 fixtures (10 in the league). Last season, he could only start 9 league games.
In all fairness, Arsenal should sell Chamberlain to Manchester United for the above mentioned fee. 30 million pounds for a bench warmer is a good enough amount and the Gunners must use the funds to find a top quality playmaker who would start with Ozil and Alexis in the attacking midfield.
As far as the Red Devils are concerned, Mourinho has stars like Mkhitaryan, Mata, Lingard, Martial in the attack. Rashford and Pogba have effectively played in the attacking midfield as well.
Ox is better than Depay, who United sold last month, however, it is highly likely that Chamberlain will continue to warm the bench even if he moves to Old Trafford.
In your opinion, do United need Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?
