Premier League side Southampton are ready to make a bid worth in excess of £16m for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.

According to Graeme Bailey, in the Gambling Times, Southampton are ready to offer him a deal worth close to £20m.

Arsenal signed Chambers from Southampon three years back after the defender became critically acclaimed in the  Premier League- recording 22 appearances in the 2013-14 campaign.

Chambers has appeared in 59 games for Arsenal across all competitions, netting three goals.

The 22-year-old was away from the Emirates last season on loan at Premier League club Middlesbrough. Playing 26 games as the teeside club were relegated from the top tier.

Despite their relegation, Middlesbrough has one of the best defensive records in the bottom half of the table, of which Chambers was a big part of.

The report claims that EvertonBournemouth and Newcastle are also eyeing the player and that Chambers will have talks with Arsenal over his future when he returns from international duty.
