Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Arsenal might have made an official offer for a Barcelona player, but it wasn’t for either Arda Turan or Rafinha.
The Catalan publication reported the La Liga club have been approached by three different clubs for midfielder Andre Gomes. Juventus and Manchester United are two of the outfit who have offered for the player, but there is some uncertainty over the third club.
Mundo Deportivo are certain the third club is a Premier League club, but they are still in doubt if it is Arsenal or Tottenham. It is more likely to be the Gunners if you consider their midfield crisis.
Arsene Wenger currently has three midfielders, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin,in his squad, but he is searching for players who can play widely. Santi Carzorla will be out at the start of the next season due to an injury while Jack Wilshere’s contract is valid for just another year and could be leaving the Emirates this summer, That leaves just Aaron Ramsey to cover up the numbers.
Gomes has been of poor form since he moved from Valencia last summer for €35 million but it seems as if Barcelona wants to give the Portuguese international another chance to prove himself. Catalunya radio (via Mundo Deportivo) report that an offer of €35m (£31m) from one club was rejected by Barca. It remains quite a mystery whether the offer came from either Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal or Spurs.
