Bid Rejected! Arsenal Dealt A Huge Blow In Their Pursuit Of 25-year-old

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

There have been rumors that Arsenal have contacted Napoli midfielder Jorginho over a potential move in the summer but the player’s agent have publicly dismiss such reports.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis recently promised that there would be signing of top players this summer and as the club are not disclosing the time injured Santi Carzorla will be returning to action, reinforcement in the central park will be needed. Carzorla’s 2016-17 season ended after just two month into the season, and the Spain international has since carried out numerous operations on the Achilles injury.

Jorginho, 25, is a deep-lying playmaker who has some similarities with Cazorla – only Napoli teammate Marek Hamsik completed more passes in the whole of Serie A last season – and it was last week claimed by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport that Arsenal were willing to pay £15 million for the midfielder.

Despite this report, Jorginho agent, Joao Santos, says the North London club has not approached the player with any deal.

Asked whether he has received any offer from Arsenal, Santos told Radio CRC: “No one has contacted me.

“Jorginho is fine in Naples, it is obvious that some managers have taken an interest in him, but my client has only Napoli in the sights for this year, and his goal is to do better than last year.”

There is no release clause in Jorginho’s contract, but according to Santos Napoli will sell for the right price.

He added: “The more time passes, the more difficult it is for [Jorginho] to move,” added Santos.

“There is no release clause in his contract. If there comes a club with so much money and De Laurentiis is interested in the figure offered, [he] will sell him.”
