Done – Shirt Number Assigned – Marcelo Officially A Gunner

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal have joined the queue of several clubs vying for the signature of Inter Milan’s central midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to ESPN FC.

The sports journalist claim on the football website that the Gunners are now competing with both Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign the versatile 24-year-old, with Inter ready to let him go this summer.

ESPN FC report that Arsene Wenger has had interest in Brozovic for a long time now and have sent scouts to monitor him on several occasions last season.

They say that the Italian side need to sell some players in order to comply with financial fair play regulations and it appears Brozovic is a player who could be leaving.

Calcio Mercato have previously reported that fellow Premier League side Everton have been offered the Croatian international for a fee of £17.5million after holding talks with officials from the Italian club, but it awaits to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to secure the same deal.

Brozovic, who can be deployed to the central park, push up into an attacking role behind the striker or play on the right flank, had an inconsistent form, as he scored six goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

He was exempted from the squad at the beginning of the season by boss Luciano Spalletti, before returning to the side for a series of starts and substitute appearances.

The midfielder also has a record of 26 appearances for Croatia since his debut back in 2014, most recently in a surprise 1-0 loss to Iceland in June, and has managed to net six international goals.
