Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is ready to fight for his spot in the squad ahead of the new season despite the Gunners being on the brink of signing AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
As per report form the Daily Star, the 28-year-old is being linked with a move to West Ham but does not want to leave the Emirates. Walcott has been at Arsenal for 11 years and is hoping he can extend his contract and show manager Arsene Wenger what he is capable of.
However, Arsenal are targeting two players whose role is similar to that of Walcott – AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez. Lemar seem the most likely to sign for Gunners this summer, but the existing winger won’t throw in the towel regardless.
Last season, Walcott found the net and created 21 goals in 37 games across all competitions for Arsenal, netting a brace in the Premier League for the first time since 2012-13 season. He lost his spot in the team during half of 2016-17 but may have a chance to get back into favor in pre-season.
