Alexis Sanchez could well moving out of Arsenal this summer, but a move to Bayern Munich seemed ruled out after the Bundesliga champions announced the signing of Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez on a two-year loan deal.

Standard Sport understands that Bayern Munich were targeting Sanchez and were prepared to approach the Chilean with a £350,000-a-week, a deal way above Arsenal’s contract extension.

But Bayern were thought to be put off a potential deal with Arsenal seeking close to £50million for Sanchez, while the forward is asking for an improved contract closer to £400,000-a-week.

Rodriguez had fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu to such an extent that he was left out of their squad for the Champions League final in June.

Bayern revealed the new signing on their official website which read: “FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have agreed on the transfer of Colombian national player James Rodriguez to the German champions on Tuesday.
