Valencia have made Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Paulista a top transfer target, according to a report by a radio station in the Spanish City.
COPE Valencia recently posted on Twitter that Valencia are in the market for a defender, after cashing in on Shkodran Mustafi on a move to Arsenal last summer, and they have identified Gabriel and Kurt Zouma of Chelsea as targets.
Gabriel moved to Arsenal from La Liga, where he was a part of Villarreal. He has had a disruptive time with the Gunners, afflicted by injuries at key periods when he could get the opportunity to break into the first team.
Arsenal also have some registered centre-backs, most of whom are either ahead of Gabriel in Arsene’s pecking order or are of a younger age and therefore don’t have such a need to break through quickly. So it does seem if one of would be leaving on a permanent basis, it would be the Brazilian.
However, until there is something more concrete in terms of the club’s plans to sell, and with Gabriel still currently unfit due to injury, we’ll just have to wait to know if this is genuine.
