Mohamed Elneny has rejected the offer to move to Leicester City after Arsenal agreed to a £10 million bid for the midfielder.
The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and would appear to be behind Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in boss Arsene Wenger’s plans when it comes to the central park.
With Jack Wilshere to come back to the squad after his return from his loan spell at Bournemouth the previous season and Santi Carzorla another when the Spaniard gets fit enough to grace the pitch again, Elneny could be getting little or no playing time if he stays.
However, the Egypt international would appear determined to contend for a spot in the Gunner squad rather than take up the option to leave.
It is being claimed that the Gunners accepted Leicester’s bid for Elneny but that the player rejected the Foxes’ offer, insisting he is happy with life in the North London club.
Despite the rejection, Leicester will reportedly continue to monitor the midfielder’s situation and could renew their pursuit in January.
