West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has put out the flame of talks about a potential move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer, although he told talkSPORT: “Never say ‘never’”
The Hammers have been busy this summer in anticipation of the forthcoming season, with Monday’s £16 million deal for striker Javier Hernandez the club’s fourth summer signing.
The Mexican ace follows the arrivals of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic at the London Stadium, and Wilshere has been mentioned as their next possible target.
The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with West Ham, Bournemouth and Italian club Sampdoria all touted as potential destinations.
But, speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White, Sullivan denied the rumors about the midfielder.
“We are very optimistic with the four players we have signed and we think all four will make a huge difference,” he said.
“I can’t comment on players from other clubs but what I would say is midfield is not a position we are looking for.
“We have a lot of good midfielders at the club, but never say ‘never’.”
