Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
As reported by The Sun, Newcastle United are interested the signature of Arsenal forward Lucas Perez this summer.
If Newcastle are to avoid relegation in next season’s English Premier League, Rafa Benitez will have to do a major overhauling of his squad that was promoted from the Championship.
While they have already acquired the signatures of Atsu, Javi Manquillo, Jacob Murphy and Florian Lejeune this summer, Benitez is apparently interested in signing a man who could bolster their attack.
The Sun claims the Spaniard is hoping to add Lucas Perez to their attack. This would afford the player first-team opportunity as he has failed to break into the first-team at the Emirates.
Reported to have signed for the Gunners for £17m last summer, the forward hasn’t convinced Arsene Wenger he is a player to be relied upon, making just two Premier League starts throughout his stay at the North London club.
However he has shown glimpses of quality in his fleeting appearances and did end up netting five goals across all competitions despite making just six starts.
It’s his season before last at Deportivo La Coruna that perhaps indicates how good he could be. In La Liga that season he scored an impressive 17 league goals.
If Rafa Benitez can tap into that kind of top-flight firepower next season then it could go a long way to ensuring that Newcastle fans have a very enjoyable campaign indeed.
