Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal will be watching tonight’s Champions League face off between Nice and Ajax closely as they consider how good a business it would be to offer for Jean Seri.
Arsene Wenger is a hugefan of the Nice midfielder, who was a big part of the French outfit campaign last season as they finished third in Ligue 1.
Informal talks have taken place between the clubs regarding the 26-year-old, but the Gunners are yet to make the interest official.
Nice have no interest in selling and point to the fact that Seri has a £33 million release clause.
That is a price tag Arsenal are unwilling to meet so they are currently biding their time and pondering other options – including Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho.
But Seri is the best option so the Gunners will be watching tonight’s game in Amsterdam intently.
It is the second leg of the Champions League third qualifying round clash between Nice and Ajax and the tie is locked at 1-1 after the first game in France.
Should Nice be defeated tonight and get knocked out of the competition before the group stage, Arsenal believe they could get Seri for less than his £33m release clause.
The Ivory Coast midfielder is seen by Wenger as a player that can provide solution to the midfield crisis at the club this summer as he looks to put a squad together he believes is capable of challenging for the Premier League title.
