Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Chelsea have gone further with their interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after launching a £25m move to sign the Arsenal contract rebel this summer, as per the Daily Mail.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future at Arsenal is hanging in doubts as he has entered the final year of his deal at the club and has so far turned down a proposed extension despite lengthy talks with Arsenal officials.
The 23-year-old has been a top transfer target for a number of Premier League clubs with The Sun reporting last week that Chelsea and Liverpool were competing over the England international’s signature.
It looks like Chelsea have now forged ahead with their interest as the Daily Mail claim they have launched a £25 move to sign the versatile midfielder but Arsenal have turned down their approach and insist Oxlade-Chamberlain is not for sale this summer even if he doesn’t sign an extension.
That will not stop Chelsea though as the publication suggests the Premier League champions will now intensify their efforts to bring The Ox to Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to further improve his squad play.
Conte has made no secret that he’s become increasingly frustrated at their transfer activity this summer as although they’ve signed four new players they still only have 14 available first team players heading in to the opening weekend of the new campaign.
However, it will definitely take more than £25m to convince Arsenal to sell to a league rival like Chelsea so the Blues will have to dig a little deeper if they want to take Oxlade-Chamberlain across London before the end of this transfer window.
