Marseille are reportedly considering making a move for Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy to bring him back to Ligue 1 this summer.
According to France Football the French giants are looking to improve their team defence and have long been linked with the 32-year-old all through the summer. Arsenal are keen to release the player and aren’t likely to drive a hard bargain.
Debuchy has been a distant part of the Gunners team for a while now. Despite having recovered from his injury problems and playing a number of games for the U23, the former Newcastle United man is not in the reckoning.
However, now Debuchy isn’t even playing for the reserve team, having missed Monday’s 3-2 win over Derby. The French international was excluded from the the pre-season tour squad and isn’t hold any role under Arsene Wenger again, making just 13 league appearances after arrival in 2014.
The right-back has been rumored with a move away from the Emirates for a long while. With the likes of Bordeaux and Nice came close to acquiring his signature, but wage demands are believed to have caused the deal to fall through.
Debuchy spent a short loan spell with Bordeaux but couldn’t agree personal terms. Marseille have a lot of money this summer so they shouldn’t struggling meeting the player’s demands.
