Arsenal will only attempt to buy Paris Saint-Germain forward Julian Draxler if Alexis Sanchez leaves the club this summer, according to latest reports.
Arsenal have been constantly linked with Draxler over the years and the rumors have begun again after PSG signed Neymar in a world record deal. With Arsenal thought to be in the market for an inside forward, the German international has been touted as an option.
However, as per Football London, the Gunners will only consider him if they lose Alexis Sanchez this summer. They state that Arsenal feel they don’t need any more forwards as long as the Chilean international holds on to the club, which could be the case if Arsene Wenger gets his way.
Arsenal’s sudden stance might seem strange considering their long term pursuit of Monaco’s Thomas Lemar. However, Football London also claim that Wenger saw Lemar as someone he can deploy to the central park, either as a number 10 or as a central midfielder. Earlier today, the Gunners boss confirmed any deal for Lemar is dead due to Monaco’s refusal to sell him.
With no real interest in Draxler either, it now seems that Wenger’s priority is trimming down his squad and retaining Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
