Manchester City have reportedly made a shocking move to land Alexis Sanchez by offering Arsenal money plus Raheem Sterling.
The Daily Mirror’s John Cross says City have submitted the offer in a bid to bring Sanchez to the Etihad before the transfer window slams shuts on Thursday.
Cross writes in The Mirror:
” City believe a player-plus-cash deal is the only way that Arsenal may be tempted to sell Sanchez. They had been expected to bid this week and have now finally gone for it but it is unlikely Arsenal will sanction the sale. Arsenal may only be tempted by around £70m but City have not offered that in straight cash.”
Sterling hasn’t always been first choice for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City but he has found the net in his past two Premier League fixtures: getting an equalizer in the 1-1 draw against Everton and then a late winner in the 2-1 victory over Bournemouth during the weekend.
The forward transferred to City from Liverpool in a £44m deal in the summer of 2015 and has sbaggedcored 15 goals in 67 Premier League appearances for the club.
Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for Sterling when he left Liverpool.
