Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
According to the Express, journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claim that Arsenal have identified Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and PSG’s Julian Draxler as potential replacements for Alexis Sanchez if the Chile international leaves for Manchester City.
“Alexis Sanchez has been pursued by Manchester City for many weeks and now he seems very close to joining Pep Guardiola and the Citizens.
“If Arsenal will take £70m from his departure, they are ready to invest that money in Lemar. If something should go wrong with Monaco, the second option comes from Ligue 1 too and his name is Julian Draxler.”
Both Lemar and Draxler have had reports come out recently that they are possibly honoring their contract with their current club and might not be leaving, with Monaco also insisting the former is not for sale and Draxler’s agent saying that he doesn’t expect his client to venture out of Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
If Arsenal did sell Alexis Sanchez in a cash-only deal, the Gunners would need to be in the market for a new forward, and would surely be financially buoyant enough to convince PSG to sell a player who is seemingly falling behind Neymar and potential signing Kylian Mbappé in their team selection process.
Lemar might be a more difficult signing given Arsenal have had three bids reportedly turned down, while Liverpool’s approach has been rejected too.
