West Brom defender Jonny Evans’ proposed move to Arsenal might not come to reality this month with the Gunners unwilling to meet The Baggies’ £20 million asking price.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal has reservations about a deal in January, with the club well aware that they could buy the player for as little as £3 million in the summer.
Evans has a relegation release clause in his contract with the West Brom, meaning he could be available at a bargain price at the end of the season.
Both Manchester City and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the defender, but Pep Guardiola have directed their attention towards Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte.
The Baggies are currently joint-bottom of the Premier League, three points off safety, with just over a dozen games left to play.
Alan Pardew has been desperate to get a deal for Evans done, which would, in turn, allow him funds to strengthen this window, however, that now looks unlikely.
