BBC: Lukas Klostermann Agrees four-year deal with Arsenal

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Bundesliga star and Red Bull Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann, whose impressive performances have called on the attention of European clubs, according to The Express.

The 22-year-old defender has been at Leipzig since 2014, and has a contract keeping him at the club until 2021.

The Gunners were reportedly keen on bringing in Klostermann just prior to the 2016/17 season, but nothing materialised.

New head coach, Unai Emery apparently sees Arsenal’s defence as the main problem that calls a lot of attention at the Emirates, with Per Mertesacker leaving and taking on a coaching role, as well as players like Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny underwhelming last season.

Emery has already brought in his first signing, Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus on a free transfer, but he mainly plays as a right back or right wing back.

The Young German was a vital part of the Leipzig squad which gained European qualification and made it to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season.
