Arsenal legend sends farewell messages to striker

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has posted a message of support on Instagram for Danny Welbeck after the striker was taken off with a serious lower leg injury against Sporting CP in the Europa League.

During his time in England, the Spaniard suffered a series of problems of his own that lead him to undergo operations that almost cost him his foot.

Infections led to a skin graft being taken from one of his arms to cover his Achilles, with the 33-year-old losing inches from his tendon. He was forced to spend most of his final months as an Arsenal player in Spain undergoing a period of rehabilitation.

After leaving the Emirates in the summer at the end of his final deal with the Gunners, the playmaker joined his former team Villarreal and has returned to action.

He was one of the first footballers to react to the news of Welbeck’s injury on social media and sent his support to the 27-year-old.

Conjuring up memories of his own nightmare injury issues, Cazorla’s message read: “Get well soon my friend, Danny Welbeck.
