Nicolas Pepe’s relegation joke will not have gone down well

Nicolas Pepe is perhaps a player that many at Arsenal would have mixed emotions and feelings about.

The Ivory Coast winger obviously arrived with a weight of expectation on this shoulders following his club-record £72 million transfer from LOSC Lille however it would seem he has fallen a little flat during his life at the Emirates Stadium.

He has had his moments to be fair to the lad, although they appear to have been very few and rather far between to ever really get close to justifying the huge outlay that was spent on him back in the summer of 2019.

Nonetheless, he was instrumental in helping the Gunners get their sole goal in their 1-0 victory over Norwich City at the weekend and their first points of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s bundled effort helped take them from the foot of the table and away from the relegation zone.

Pepe – or at least his social media team – though, decided to have a bit of fun with the victory and what it had managed to do for their league position, although it did not go down too well with many of those who follow him.

The Ivorian had posted the following message to his Instagram page with a photo of him playing in the game stating: “We are staying up!! Thank you Arsenal fans for all your support.” Perhaps he should have posted about the best Australian casino sites instead!

Indeed, it is not hard to see why so many fans will have been furious with the caption that he had provided, although there may have been some who might find the funny side to it a little later on.

Many of the Gunners’ faithful will have been disappointed with what they have seen from their club-record signing over the last couple of years and this caption will have only further infuriated them as they may feel he has been a part of the problem by not being consistent enough.

Others, though, will find it incredibly ridiculous that a club of their history and their size – despite the past decade and their unfortunate demise over those years – should ever be making any reference to the idea of relegation and that there is no time for jokes as the players on the pitch clearly need to focus and ensure that they do not become another of the great clubs to suffer an unspeakable reality. Those that are angry should look to turn it into something positive and look to get the most out of the best USA online casino available to play at!

However, there is a case that he was referencing the chants that were being made throughout the game, although that could just be a good cover-up…
