Arsenal Target Morgan Schneiderlin Ready To Force Through A Move

The consideration of many was that the deal would be completed within days when the news broke that the other club on the Seven Sisters Road, (Tottenham Hotspurs) were in discussion with two Southampton players (Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin) the latter of which it has been reported on several occasions this summer that Arsenal were interested in.

However despite the seeming willingness of the leadership at the St Mary’s to allow any player their wish of jumping ship to a new club which is reflected by the exodus of players that has left the club in the last month which has seen Ricky Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers sold to Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal respectively for a combined fee of about £90 million. And still Dani Osvaldo who is the Saints record signing is expected to be sold to Inter Milan after being put up for sale by the club.

However, Morgan Schneiderlin who was widely expected to join the exodus has been prevented from leaving when the club’s chairman declared that no further player would be leaving. The decision did not go down well with the French midfielder and as a result he took to twitter to criticise the decision of the club.

Schneiderlin tweeted“6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!

What This mean to Arsenal

Although it would seem that the club was not willing to get involved in any deal that would take the French man away from Southampton, going by the reports that broke on Monday that he was on his way to White Hart Lane to reunite with his former coach Mauricio Pochettino, what the present development reveals is that Arsenal could still come into this with a little over a month to run in the transfer window.

So far, it seems the hierarchy at Southampton have not been too adverse to selling their players to the top clubs in the Premier League, as the players that have left have left for clubs that have a combined 51 league title between them (Manchester United (20) Liverpool (18) and Arsenal (13)) rather they seem to have pulled the plug on a player’s move to the other side of Seven Sisters Road.

In the end, with Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Schneiderlin still there, if media reports are anything to go by, together with the player’s desire to leave, after being critical of the club’s handling of his transfer, it only means that there is still some leg in this to run yet, and Arsenal has a key say in where Morgan Schneiderlin would end up if he eventually leave St Mary’s.
