Are Arsenal Stuck With Arshavin?

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger might face a problem in “getting rid” of his winger Andrey Arshavin, as the Russian winger doesn’t have any clear future at the moment with the transfer window already opened for quite some time.

According to reports, the Russian star has broken his chances of a permanent move to his home club Zenit St Petersburg, where he spent the last season on loan. The winger has made a few remarks with regards to the way the Russian fans behaved at this summer’s Poland & Ukraine Euro, and if rumours are to be believed his more to Russia is now in danger.

After supposedly breaking his chances to move to Zenit, Galatasaray has launched an official statement saying that rumours linking them with Premiership stars are completely fake.

“Reports regarding the club’s interest in a number of players, such as Andrey Arshavin, Dimitar Berbatov, Alexandre Pato and Gonzalo Higuain, does not reflect the truth,”

Arsene Wenger is looking to completely rebuild the team, and Andrey Arshavin has stopped being an important player for Wenger’s team a long time ago, so there’s no point in keeping him at the club, especially given the fact that he’s still one of the best paid players there. Do you think Arsenal will manage to sell him?

I for one hope we keep Arshavin IF RvP leaves. Arshavin plays best when in the role as a second striker. He has played well for us there the few times he’s done that, he’s excellent for Zenit and Russia in the same position.

    Szczesny
    Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Santos
    Walcott, Song, Arteta, Podolski
    Arshavin
    Giroud
Subs/rotating from; Mertesacker, Gibbs, Wilshere (when fit), Rosicky, AOC, Ramsey, Diaby, Coquelin, Frimpong, Chamakh, Park, Gervinho

We have an excellent midfield with a mix of youth and experience and lots of depth.
We need a quality goalie to challenge Szczesny and our weakest position in the starting XI is probably LB. However, as a pair, Gibbs and Santos are up there. Only ManC have similar quality for their 2nd choice LB. It’s not that I don’t want another signing but it has to be something special to improve our starting XI.
