You couldn’t make it up really. Arsenal had done all the hard work by battling back from 17th place all the way up to Third, and started pulling away from the dreaded Spuds and Chavs.
That fantastic win over Man City and Sami Cashri seemed to have secured our prize (and wrecked City’s chances of the title) but since then Arsenal have blown every chance they’ve been given.
Losing to Wigan (and also losing Arteta) seemed to convince the Arsenal players they weren’t good enough to win again, and they subsequently drew at home to a Chelsea side that made EIGHT changes from their Champions League side. A hard-fought draw at Stoke gave us hope once again as the chasing pack also conveniently dropped more points, but surely a home win against newly-promoted Norwich would be the big chance to regain a little confidence.
But yet again, a draw means we now need to hope the Spuds and Toon drop further points today, or Third Place could be cruelly snatched at the penultimate hurdle.
So the question is why do Arsenal collapse every year? Surely the carrot of a Champions League place should be enough motivation for the Gunners to play their hearts out, or do the nerves simply take over and their self-belief goes down the drain. I firmly believe that it is Arsene Wenger’s job to instil the confidence and motivation in his side and this used to be taken for granted, but he now seems to have lost his ability to do that at the business end of the season.
Should Wenger take responsibility for this?

Yes, the squad does not have enough decent players, so players get tired and we lose or draw, simple as that…

Doh, of course it’s Wengers responsibility. He picked all these players, and failed to buy the necessary depth on the bench, and its his job to motivate them and keep them hungry. He has instead created a culture that getting 4th place is as good as a trophy so as long as they are bubbling just on top of that, that is Wenger’s squads will ever achieve. He has created this culture of just getting over the line for CL qualification and just going out and doing the job. You heard it in his pre-match interview. There is no incentive, no motivation, the culture at Colney Creche is all wrong and Wenger is 100% to blame, and Hill-Wood who comes out and wants to give him a lifetime contract before the seasons even bloody finished. But it doesn’t matter, even if we get 4th the mincers won’t beat Bayern. The squad will have just got over the line again and lucky lucky Wenger will survive to repeat the same old crap again next season.
Only wenger has to take responsibility for early loss and not reinforce the team in correct time.

I sometimes wonder if Wenger`s allegiance is to Ramsey and Walcott or the Arsenal fans. He sure does have his favourites. Maybe we`ll hold third spot but we`ll put your house on it, not mine.
What is happening to Arsenal is a modern day tragedy. The hero of yesterday has become the reason for losing today.
In any other well managed team Arsene would have been booted upstairs or out the door years ago, To see the Gunners collapse year after year seven years in a row is a recurring nightmare both to the fans and the caring team players.
These players voted with their feet and left as soon as it became obvious management would not do anything to address the real problem. Fabrigas, Nasri, Clichy to name but a few recent departures. Van Pursie and Walcott will be the next to leave as soon as the dust settles on this season…

I think it’s better for Arsenal to take a break from Champions League for one year so that Wenger and his stupid fans can get lost to PSG or any other French clubs. Then we’re rebuild.

I still dont understand why Ramsy escaped a red card yesterday, and why the manager still kept him on the field after that! Then again I will never understand why we didnt get a penalty for the glaring shove on RVP in the dying miuntes! Sometimes we just have to accept what comes our way and hope we dont continue scoring own goals by refusing to add depth to our team as the was the case in the past two seasons.

Lack of confidence in the fringe players has made Wenger pick the same side season through. I can’t imagine where we would’ve finished if Rosicky didn’t have his Renaisance and reoccurance of RVP’s usual long term injury.
The team is tired and it seems no one can G them up for the final fight for cl place.
Their concentration levels are shot and next season for the euro players will be even tougher and longer and Arsenal will be expected to perform so much better than this one. Wenger needs a squad, 15 playing and 10 players injured or not good enough won’t cut it.
Let’s hope Bould can be strong enough to speak up and suggest changes and be able to motivate. I personally would’ve waited to see if Di Matteo was offered the Chelsea job, he has vision and knows, like Ferguson always said, if you’re not letting in goals, then you can’t be losing.
We have to blame wenger, how can he start Aaron Ramsey when he knows he is in a difficult period? This what wenger said after the game “He was unlucky with the first booking, it was a good tackle. It is part of learning your job, you have to deal with all kinds of situations and he will do that. He is very strong mentally and is going through a difficult period at the moment. But he will come off that stronger”.
even if Tottenham and Newcastle fail to win today, i doubt if we will qualify cos at west brom he will again start with Aaron.
Wenger has become overly arrogant using Arsenal as his pet project and shows contempt for the Fans. Just recently Sol Campbell was the latest of many ex players to state that the club needed to have a clear out and buy some better quality in. When asked by a journalist Wenger joked “well Sol Campbell has a lot of money if he wants to give it to me I will spend it” … The fans deserved a better answer than that because, the majority of fans feel the same way Sol does. I know someone with connections to the youth set up and they are very disgruntled there because many believe there have been better players coming through the academy than Walcott & Ramsay but they don’t get a chance because Wenger has his favourites & will never admit he is wrong. He has purchased some absolute dross in recent years and negotiated ridiculous contracts with many below par players on 50 to 60k plus a week then we can’t get rid of them and the board are happy because his net transfer spend is effectively zero so profits every year are more important than trophies. I have been saying for the last 3 years that with the present owners, Manager & that cretin Gazidis we will never be able to realistically challenge for the EPL or the CL which is what we should be doing. They all need to go its as simple as that, they have been conning the fans for long enough.
Go ahead n even blame wenger for man united draw to everton at old traford before losing to man city, or blame wenger for chelsea lose to newcasle at stamford bridge after scaling through barca to ucl final. Get a grip you mates
