Arsenal is hoping to get more capability in the Strike department in the wake of missing out on Leicester striker, Jamie Vardy who reprimanded an Emirates move. Arsene Wenger has held chats with Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku as he ventures up his quest for a striker.
Alexandre Lacazette came behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Ligue 1 scoring table last season and is one of the ‘top targets’ in Arsenal list to become Giroud’s strike mates. While, Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Everton this summer as per reports.
The Arsenal boss contacted Lyon, Everton and both the forward’s delegates a week ago – as he needs another striker before the respective teams go to America on a pre-season visit this July.
Everton are requesting an amazing £65m for Lukaku however it is thought they would give him a chance to leave for around £40m. Wenger has been a long-term admirer of Lacazette, having by and by watched him for Lyon on various events in the course of the last few seasons.
Yet, the French International is Wenger’s second decision alternative behind Lukaku, and would cost around $53m – according to reports. Wenger discussed with the players’ delegates and an agreement was not reached as Wenger declined to pay that amount for the player.
An Arsenal source said: “Arsene is keen to get a new striker in as soon as possible, but won’t rush anything and overspend.
“Olivier Giroud is very much in his plans, but he wants to get someone in and was upset about losing out on Jamie Vardy.”
Arsene Wenger is chasing another striker for title challenge, but is is taking a hell lot of time to get one, time is running out!
