Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Everton’s Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye come the summer transfer window.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, via Metro, Gueye – who signed for the Toffee’s last summer for £9m from Championship side Aston Villa – has been shortlisted by Arsene Wenger for a summer move to the Emirates in order to provide the Gunners midfield with more assured defensive cover.
Le Prof’ faces tough competition in the Premier League from the likes of Jose Mourinho, however. It has been said that the ‘Special One’ also admires the tireless central midfielder, and would be interested in initiating a move of his own to bring Everton’s number 17 to Old Trafford.
Gueye, 27, has also attracted the attention of some notable foreign clubs. La Liga outfits Sevilla and Valencia are both rumoured to be monitoring the emphatic midfielder, but a stay in the English top-flight would ultimately prove to be more of a desired option for the man who currently resides at the Merseysider’s.
Regardless of the ever-present speculation surrounding Wenger’s future at the helm of the north London club, it seems the Frenchman has not been deterred in pinpointing his desired transfer targets for next season.
However tempting the Goodison Park club to part ways with their resolute midfielder will not be an easy task for any interested party, so we will be expecting an eventful episode regarding Gueye’s future in the coming transfer window.
