Arsenal unlikely to keep Chelsea’s Benayoun

Chelsea FC is waiting for an answer from local rivals Arsenal over whether they will keep the Blues midfielder Yossi Benayoun for good or not.

Benayoun spent the last season on loan at the Emirates, scoring 6 goals in 25 appearances for the Gunners and was a great player in the latter part of the season.

Although the 32 year old proved himself to be a reliable option for Arsenal, manager Arsene Wenger has not decided on keeping the attacking midfielder.

Fresh UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea, have told Benayoun that he can leave the club this summer, and are waiting for Arsenal to decide if they want him on a permanent basis, as they have the first option to buy him for just One Million Pounds.

The Israel captain stated that he would be happy to remain with Arsenal, if they offer him a two year contract, something that Wenger is unlikely to do for a 32-year-old player, especially given the fact that the Frenchman wants to refurbish his team before the new season will start.

Yossi Benayoun has also been linked with Ajax and West Ham United, but chances are the player will go back to his home country to play for Maccabi Haifa if Wenger will decide against keeping him.

I would advice Wenger to keep Yossi, because he is kind of experience player we need in Arsenal.

Even without yossi and the and the 7 we released yesterday we have 29 homegrown and non homegrown players plus a further 54 under 21s. thats 83 players i think there needs to be a good few more.departures from the squad first before committing to more wage bill.

Wenger should offer the usual 1 year and leave it to yossi to decide ffrom there. its better for both parties. then atleast if we dont use him he doesnt have to try get out of a contract to go home and if he does a good job we can offer him and extention in jan.
