Arsenal’s Rising Stars Will Get A Chance To Shine In Pre-season Tour

With the official Asia touring squad announced on the club website, Arsenal.com, fans have been able to notice that several young talents have also been included on the 25 man list heading out to Asia on tour in the next few days.

It’s no surprise to see a large number of young players on the traveling squad list as Wenger usually sends a fair few of his talented youngsters on the trip across the world, so they can both gain experience in playing as well as experience in the opportunity and the feel to being with the First Team Squad. Perhaps it’s more surprising to see the likes of several first team players missing from the list including, Cazorla, Monreal, Vermaelen and Gervinho.

The two Spaniards have been given extended leave after participating in the Confederations cup tournament, whilst Vermaelen is currently injured. But as for Gervinho, it seems as if he will now be moving off away from the Gunner’s this summer, as reports suggest he has remained in England for the time being to negotiate a potential move away.

Back to the young players included and the potential wonder kids on the list are; Serge Gnabry, Damian Martinez, Kris Olsson, Chuba Akpom, Thomas Eisfeld, Chuks Aneke and Gedion Zelalem. Whilst Ignasi Miquel and Ryo Miyaichi are also on the list but of course they are slightly older and already have experience at higher levels.

That list will surely include a lot of players you already know at the club and so don’t worry to think that we are taking some absolute unknown 15 year old kids on the tour with us, because these players are all high footballing professionals with bags of potential.

As mentioned, Wenger will use these players heavily during pre-season as he looks to see how well they play at a higher level, as well as give them the opportunity to impress in front of the boss, in order to perhaps keep a place at the Emirates, pushing to be involved with the First Team Squad next season.

But it’s not all good for these young talents, remembering the likes of Sanchez Watt and Craig Eastmond have also been given chances on pre-season and ultimately failed. Whilst perhaps more surprising Benik Afobe, also heavily impressed in last year’s pre-season tour however this time he is nowhere to be seen.

All the players on the list are exciting to watch and it really does make you proud of our nurturing youth system even if we know that most of those players haven’t originally come up through the ranks at Arsenal. Make sure you look out for them at this year’s pre-season tour in Asia!
