After he stole the show by scoring an equalizer and then creating the winner against Sweden, Theo Walcott must have thought he was guaranteed a starting position tonight. He is a doubt for the team, however, as he has a hamstring problem.
Walcott looked like he would have to leave the pitch soon after coming on, nut he was able to continue on the night. During an England training session he felt some tightness in his hamstring again. England manager Roy Hodgson is being extremely careful, and will not risk him unless the medical staff can assure him there is no danger.
The 23-year old winger left for today’s training session before all the rest of his team mates, presumably to undergo some treatment and an assessment of his fitness. The last thing that Arsenal need is for England to play him and make matters worse.
Arsenal had enough injury worries before Euro 2012 and Gooners are already sweating on the fitness of Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky, who missed his country’s last group game. He has gone to Prague for intensive treatment on his Achilles.
