Arshavin back in form – Should Arsenal give him another chance?

Andrey Arshavin has rediscovered his form since moving back to his boyhood club Zenit St. Petersburg. He has scored once for the Russian club in five appearances and has helped them in their bid to keep hold of the Russian league title which they did at the weekend. He was completely out of sorts in his last season at the Emirates and something had to be done. Perhaps if he stayed in the cold weather of Russia he would have had more luck with his hockey predictions!

We must remember that when Arsenal signed the 30-year old from Zenit in 2009, the Russian international was one of the most sought after players in European football. He quickly settled into the Arsenal set-up but his best season came in 2010-2011 when he made 52 appearances, scoring 10 goals and claiming 17 assists. Who can say what has gone wrong this year, but if it is a matter of confidence then this loan spell followed by a successful tournament in Poland and Ukraine could be just what he needs.

The player has said, according to Metro “The result and quality of play there could affect my destiny.”

Arsenal need to either move players on or get players back into the squad and playing well. If Andrey can get back to his best then I, for one, would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

I’ve always loved arshavin, despite his dip in form at arsenal, he’s world class….it would be great to have him back…laying aside his ego and character issues, I’d also like to see bendtner back, would make a great addition to the team…UP GUNNERS

He is playing in the russian league. For god sakes Andrei has clearly lost his pace and thats why he struggled in the prem. The BPL is a different breed of animal and is miles better than the russian league.

etLet him compete with rosicky for the am role rather than with young nippy wingers for the wide left. he is simply not suited to that role so hopefully wenger will either bring him back in the am role or buy a new am to rival rosicky. lansbury and diaby are other options for the am role but one is so unfit that my gran could do a better job the other has it all to prove so putting him in the mix wont be a bad thing.

Arsenal should be going forward and not backward. For anything sake, let Ashavin go. We have up coming youngsters that need to grow. Let us use them. See what Man U is doing with heir young players? We started that. It is time to continue .

I imagine Zenit has built their style of game around Arshavin. He’s not the focal point at Arsenal and never will be. He flourishes in teams who do the work for him and he only has to go forward – for more information please see CRonaldo. Wenger and the team style is uncompromising and until Arshavin stops being lazy and learns to track back and efend then he will always be second rate at Arsenal. His wages alone is worth cutting him so they can be freed up for other players.

I am beginning to doubt AW being a good motivator.
Look at what AW has done to Chamakh and Park Yu Chong. By not giving enough playing times to both players, AW has made his choice of relying “too much” on other attacking players, and as a result of it AW has unconsciously damaged the self- confidence of both said players. What a pity!
