Breaking ! Arsenal submits £47m bid for PSG star

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal is in pursuit of PSG star Di Maria as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is a transfer target for both Manchester clubs this month.

Yet Spanish media outlet Don Balon claim the North London giants face a fight persuading the Argentina international to sign for them, with him still harboring memories from his nightmare time at United.

The Red Devils spent £60million to acquire the player from Real Madrid ahead of Arsenal in 2014 in Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge.

A bright start then commenced with Di Maria impressing on his Old Trafford debut against QPR and then producing a stunning chip in a memorable 5-3 defeat to Leicester City at King Power Stadium.

But as the wheels came off on United’s season, Di Maria’s career in England suffered the same fate.

A break-in at his family home scarred the Argentinean and Van Gaal’s brutal man-management style also saw him lose his incredible form.

Eventually, he left United for PSG after just 12 months with Memphis Depay arriving as his replacement.

And despite flattering to deceive in England once before, Don Balon says Arsenal now want to bring the PSG star back to England.

The Unai Emery’s side needs to offload a number of players to balance the books following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

But whether Di Maria can be convinced to give the Premier League another go remains to be seen.

Part of him wants to remain at PSG because he believes they have a genuine shot at winning the Champions League this season.

Yet there are more appealing offers more appealing than Arsenal’s.

Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also in the mix for his signature but Barcelona, who tried to sign him in the summer, is not expected to reignite their interest.
