European heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly considering a surprise January swoop for Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, as cited on Alex Kirkland, the La Liga champions are in the market for an experienced left-back in the new year.
The Catalan side have shortlisted three players that include; Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno, Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis and Monreal himself.
Monreal was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal over the summer but has stayed put.
There was initial interest from Real Sociedad, some reports claiming that talks over a deal took place throughout the summer transfer window.
Heading into the new season it was unclear what role Monreal would have at the club under Unai Emery, who strengthened defensively ahead of his first campaign in London.
Monreal has been a regular for the Gunners in recent years and has been utilised both as a left-back and a central defender.
