Arsenal is keeping tabs on the recovery of Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, according to a report.
The 26-year-old holding player has been linked with the Gunners for the last few years, with Arsenal and PSG believed to be on his pursuit last summer.
Pereira – a Portugal international – remained with Porto and even penned a new contract that would last till 2022 in January 2018.
He had played 30 games for Porto this term before he partially ruptured his Achilles in April in a 2-0 loss to Belenenses.
O Jogo report that the Gunners have initiated contact with Pereira, who has been ruled out of the World Cup, to see how he is recuperating.
Despite not yet having a coach in place, Arsenal is forging ahead with recruitment which is been overseen by their head of recruitment Sven Mislintat and head of football relations Raul Sanllehi.
According to a report last month, Arsenal and Manchester United were reportedly willing to go head to head over the Portugal international during the summer transfer window and it seems Arsenal are still interested in the player, who is unlikely to be fit for the start of the next season.
Last summer L’Equipe suggested his release was set at €60million, but he has since signed a new deal, which more than likely saw an increase in that sum.
