Chu-Young Park to be the first to leave Arsenal?

It is one of the big mystery’s of this season as to why Arsene Wenger has refused to give Chu-Young Park any regular chances in Arsenal’s first team. Even the out-of-confidence and out-of-form Marouane Chamakh has been given one start in the Premiership this season while Park has been superglued to the bench.

Wenger first started saying that Park needed time to settle into English football, but by December the French coach announced that the Korean captain was now ready to step up once Gervinho was away at the African Nations Cup.

Then immediately afterwards Wenger brought in Thierry Henry as support and backup for Robin Van Persie instead, leaving Park playing the occassional few minutes at the end of games. He did start in three Carling Cup games (scoring a good goal against Bolton) but was still ignored for the Arsenal first team, and was even overtaken in the pecking order by the young Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Now that the Gunners have announced the arrival of Lukas Podolski, Park now has the German international to contend with, as well as The Ox, Gervinho and even Chamakh ahead of him.

Surely that can only mean the end of the line for Park, who must now be wishing he had chosen to go to Lille last summer instead of Arsenal.

Quite possibly The Merchandise Dept. bounced him on Wenger who was determined never to give him a chance …. as a way of insisting that he is in charge ?

its not fair at all, wenger has treated Park very bad! He ought to have given him a chance infront of chamakh who has contributed nothing for us…..i c something in him, beta loan him but discard the deadwood in squillaci, chamakh, djorou, bendtner, vela, denilson and loan aaron ramsey next season……vertonghen, mvilla and Moura if possible

I wonder y wenger bought park when he knows he has no confidence in him,he would have give him chance to express himself instead of using charmak ahead of him

My guess is Wenger did not want to buy him. My guess is he was taken on to promote Arsenal merchandise in Korea. What I do know from inside the club is AW will accept no advice from anyone if it contradicts his own firm view.

There are a number of players who have been judged on chances they never had and it begs the question why we bought them in the first place, but as the saying goes, “Wenger knows best”. My guess is we were so deep in the mire he couldn`t take a chance with inexperienced players no matter how good their `potential` (remember that word? Bit like the hole in the ozone layer it seems to have disappeared. Go on Arsene, give us a clue.lol

Aparantly in training he has shown some skill but has been woeful in trying to adapt to our game….. constantly making runs that he shouldnt make and not learning from his mistakes. Not ready for the physical of the PL either.

wenger plays the gamble on untested players…if it comes off, wenger is apparently judged a magician or even a genius!!!….if it doesnt come off wenger will always have the excuse that the player didnt cost a lot and was worth the gamble. Hoewever for every “gem” there are 5 mediocre players and 2 or 3 complete duds. Indeed the brightest prospect we have is the ox and he will cost 16 million. Its poor investment..a bit like the bargain hunter that fills his house with cheap shi+ that will be a waste of money when he realises he needs the quality items. Arsene doesnt know best and there are scores of reasons and examples to back that up. Look at the recent rise of chelsea…RDM has restored the big players(like torres) and relegated david luiz to the bench….easy decision looking back but contrast this to wenger and his continuing faith in mediocre(at best) players like diaby djourou and a load of others.I hear that chamakh may be with us next season????????? W.T.F!!!!!

monaco (wengers former club) did not want to sell to lille, it was they who informed wenger abouth his availability and when joel campbell was refused a work permit, wenger stepped in. however, there is a strong rumour that park will be part of the deal that brings hazard to arsenal to play with his cousin vermaelen and friends vertonghen and gervinho and as a sweetner squillaci is supposedly going to monaco, with everybody apparantly happy. now this is only a rumour that i have heard as part of the fa coaching & scouting network, however, i hear this sort of stuff everyday especially about young players. Grimandi is supposed to be heavily involved with all this.

the fact that park took the risk to come to arsenal under Lile’s nose meant that his preference was to Afc.why is wenger betraying the korean’s loyalty???. its illogical.

I do feel sorry for Park he is a captain and proven scorer at international level and in the French lge yet was not given a chance. Why was he not given a 4 to 5 game run in the new year yet we have put up with players like Bendtner and Dourou (forgot the spelling) who are both super shite

Wenger never know best, if he does why should he buy a player he know he wil not use????
