According to reports, Arsenal have closed the deal on the signing of Schalke left-back Kolasinac, and the Bosnian international is set for a move to the Emirates on July 1.
The 23-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga outfit will end this summer, and as per reports by Sky Sports, he will officially be inducted into the Gunners team on July 1.
This is coming after weeks of questioning over his future, with the Gunners being the favorite to sign him. And now it seems Arsene Wenger’s effort on the talented defender has paid off, but it begs the question of what the fate of Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs would be at the club.
Kolasinac has been a key member of the Schalke team this season, netting three goals and nine assists in 36 appearances along with the solidity of his defensive skills and versatility.
Taking him of the transfer market on a free transfer can only be considered a good business decision on Wenger’s part, but this also raise eyebrows concerning the long-term future of the Frenchman at the club.
Wenger’s contract at the Emirates is only valid till the end of this season and the club is yet to announce if he will continue his tenure at the club or if he will be replaced for the next season. This has caused a lot of confusion among the fans and supporters who have shown their concern over who the signings would work with.
This signing is giving all indication that Wenger will still be very much active even after this season, but the club has not officially said anything to the outside world, the supporters remain in the dark and left to find out what’s happening come season end
