Crystal Palace are planning to make a swoop for Arsenal fringe defender Calum Chambers this summer, as per reports by Sky Sports News HQ.
The sports journalist report on the live transfer blog on their official website (17:41) that the Eagles are keen on securing the signature of the 22-year-old full-back, who is said to be valued at £20million by the Gunners.
His previous season was spent on loan at Middlesbrough but failed in his effort to help the north east side avoid relegation.
He ended up making 27 appearances for the club across all competitions, bagging two goals and providing a single assist, as a foot injury ruled him out for at least ten of their fixtures.
The three-time-capped England international was excluded from Arsenal’s pre-season squad for their tour in the far east, having taken part in international duty for England Under-21s in their European Championship campaign.
He appeared in every minute of the Young Lions’ four games in the competition, as they were grounded to a defeat in semi-final by Germany on penalties.
Chambers moved to Arsenal from Southampton in the summer of 2014 in a deal worth about £16million, but he was not able to land a permanent spot in the first team squad.
A natural right-back who also has the ability to play central defence, he has recorded 59 appearances for the club, the last of those coming in the opening match of last term Premier League campaign as Arsenal lost 4-3 to Liverpool.
