Arsenal’s 18-year-old midfielder, Marcus McGuane is currently in talks with the club regarding a long term contract according to a report emerging from TMW.
With his current deal having just a year left in it, this move is orchestrated to deter any interest in the player from Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus who are said to be interested in the youngster. McGuane’s contract expires next summer, but Arsenal are keen to tie the player down to a new contract to fend off any offers from elsewhere.
The England Under 19 player who is a native of Ireland has come through the Arsenal ranks, and recently debuted in the first team in the 4-2 win against BATE Borisov in the win in the Europa League a couple of weeks ago. He is also a regular for the U18s and as captain, scored twice recently for the U23 team against Everton.
Previously addressed as Marcus Agyei-Tabi, the defensive midfielder’s versatility was put on the shelf in the Europa game when he played as a right back, McGuane can be deployed to the centre back.
Arsene Wenger has entrusted a lot in the care of youngsters this season already in the Europa League and Carabao Cup and if this goes on, McGuane will be hoping for more playing time with the first team, with Wenger obviously a big fan already.
