Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal have emerged as favourites to sign Liverpool’s and England international forward Daniel Sturridge in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The England forward, who would reportedly cost £20m, has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield amid suggestion he’s down the pecking order with the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
The former Chelsea forward is also said to be linked with a return back to his former club and also report claiming Tottenham and West Ham United are all keen in signing the England international.
He will cost Arsenal in excess of £20million to sign in January while he’s reported to be on wages of £125,000-a-week.
Despite the reports, The Independent understands that Liverpool are not expecting Arsenal to bid for Sturridge, and would not be willing to let the striker leave the club this summer under any circumstances, especially to move to a main league rival.
Arsenal completed the signing of Spanish striker Lucas Perez on Tuesday, but there has been suggestions that the Gunners are still active in the transfer market and would move for another striker if one of their targets became available.
Sturridge would challenge Olivier Giroud for the starting spot as Arsenal’s lead striker, although there remain questions over his long-term fitness as he has suffered heavily from injuries during his three years at Anfield.
